Taylorcraft A-A11 ATTACH FITTING SB 2007-002 Questions
November 21, 2007 We are experiencing a very high volume of telephone calls with questions about the wing strut attach fitting Service Bulletin 2007-002. What is required is a one time visual inspection for land based aircraft, and every four (4) years for float and ski equipped aircraft. Our main concern is that corrosion on the inside of the A-A11 attach fitting may not be noticed at annual inspections. Owners ask: "Do I have to cut the fabric for the inspection?" The answer is depending on how your Taylorcraft was last recovered. If you can inspect the back side center lug of the attach fitting without cutting the fabric you are ok. There is a drain hole on the bottom of the fitting that must be cleaned. At this time spot sand blasting and wire brushes seem to be best for cleaning the fitting.
VERY IMPORTANT: Please take the time to properly conduct and record the outcome of the SB2007-002 in your aircraft logbook. The Service Bulletin 2007-002 compliance will be part of any future FAA Airworthiness Directive regarding the mandatory inspection of the A-A11 Attach Fitting.
Taylorcraft A-A11 ATTACH FITTING Service Bulletin 2007-002
November 8, 2007 The ATTACH FITTING Service Bulletin 2007-002 for the A-A11 attach fitting is now available. It is a visual one time only inspection for land based planes and every forty-eight months for float equipped aircraft. This inspection will require the use of a borescope to inspect the fitting. Please note: LIFT STRUT Service Bulletin 2007-001 Rev. B for the Lift struts has removed Eddy Current as an approved inspection method. Please print a copy for your aircraft records.
AD 2007-16-14 Alternate Method of Compliance (AMOC)

Taylorcraft Factory Lift Strut Progress
November 5, 2007 Lift struts, we have had a slow start in manufacturing new lift struts, first a problem with the two part epoxy paint, then a mistake with the welding rod and last the tubing had a small curve in it. All problems were caught by our quality inspectors before any struts were shipped.
A investment group would like to re-start production of the Taylor Sport and F-Series Taylorcrafts and open "Taylorcraft Pilot Centers" for the small flight schools or individual Certified Flight Instructors. I will keep you posted on any progress. On Wednesday of this week we will start the process and apply for our repair station license so we can help you with any repairs such as landing gear, engine mounts, rudders etc. Thank you, for your understanding and support.
